Terms of service
These terms govern your use of VioTrack. By using the service you accept them.
The most important thing. VioTrack is not a government agency. We act on your instruction to file a renewal with the relevant authority. The authority issues the document, sets the fee, and decides the outcome. We do not.
1. Who we are and what we do
VioTrack is a private company registered in Nigeria. We provide two things:
- A free check showing the standing of a vehicle's compliance documents
- A paid service in which, on your instruction, we file renewals with the relevant authority and return the resulting documents to the vehicle owner
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an agent of any federal or state authority, except where we state a specific arrangement in writing.
2. The check
A check reflects records held by the issuing authorities. We show you when a record was last confirmed. Records can be out of date, incomplete, or briefly unavailable, and where we cannot confirm something we mark it unverified rather than guess.
A check is information, not legal proof of compliance. Only the document issued by the authority proves compliance. Do not rely on a check alone when the law requires you to produce a document.
3. Instructing a renewal
When you select items and pay, you instruct us to file those items on your behalf. You confirm that you are the owner of the vehicle or are authorised to act for the owner.
You choose what to include. We do not add optional items for you, and any item that is optional in your state remains yours to switch on or off.
4. Money
- Government fees are passed through at cost. We do not mark them up.
- Insurance premiums are set by the insurer, not by us. Insurance is arranged through licensed partners. We do not underwrite insurance.
- Any charge that is ours, or an agent's, is shown as its own line before you pay. If a line is not named on the quote, it is not on the bill.
- Fees can change between a quote and a payment because authorities revise them. If a fee has changed, we requote before charging you.
5. What we can and cannot promise
We will take reasonable care and skill in filing what you asked for. We cannot promise:
- That an authority's system will be available at any given moment
- How long an authority will take to process a filing
- That an authority will approve a renewal, where its own rules or records prevent it
Where a renewal cannot be completed, we refund you. See the refund policy.
6. Delivery of documents
Documents are delivered to the owner on record. If you paid on someone else's behalf, you receive confirmation that the job is done; the documents and the owner's personal details go to the owner. Where an authority does not issue a document in electronic form, we may give you a clearly labelled VioTrack acknowledgement of the filing. An acknowledgement is a record of payment and filing. It is not a government certificate and should not be presented as one.
7. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate details. A renewal filed against wrong details may not be recoverable.
- Only act for vehicles you own or are authorised to act for.
- Do not use the service to collect data in bulk, to probe records that are not yours to check, or in any way covered by our acceptable use policy.
8. Suspending access
We may limit or suspend access where we see automated collection, attempts to obtain data about vehicles you have no connection to, non-payment, or misuse. Where we can, we tell you why.
9. Liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, our total liability for any claim relating to a transaction is limited to the amounts you paid us for that transaction. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost income, fines imposed on you by an authority, or losses arising from an authority's own delay, error or system outage.
10. Intellectual property
The VioTrack name, brand and the software behind the service belong to us. You may use the service; you may not copy, resell, reverse engineer, or build a competing dataset from it.
11. Changes and notices
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced before they take effect, and the version above will change. Notices reach you at the contact details you gave us.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction. Before going to court, please raise the matter with us at hello@viotrack.africa — most things are resolved quickly.
